Netflix has acquired the live / CGI action from director Andy Serkis, The Jungle Book, which retells Mowgli from Warner Bros. and plans to start broadcasting the movie around the world next year. The film was recently scheduled to hit theaters in October, but was scheduled to arrive in 2016 and then in 2017 before that.
Written by Callie Kloves, Mowgli has been in development for approximately four years, largely to allow enough time to complete the effects on the digitally rendered animals of the film (who were portrayed through the capture of movement by the cast here ).
Rohan Chad plays the same Mowgli in the Serkis film, which has long been described as a darker adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s original novel than the famous Disney animated film of 1967 and 2016 live action iterations / CGI, respectively. WB released Mowgli’s first trailer less than two months ago and seemed ready to unveil Serkis’ recount for the masses this fall. However, it turns out that it is not the plan anymore.
